17th National Conference on “Rediscover Practices in the Epoch of Covid-19”

Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Mohali organized its 17th National Conference- GJ-NatConMITE – 2020, on “Rediscover Practices in the Epoch of Covid-19” on 16th December 2020. This was the first ever fully online National Conference – Panel Discussion organized by any educational institute in North India.

Its aim was to provide the Industry, Academicians Researchers and Analysts an opportunity to exchange ideas on the latest issues and challenges for Indian Economy.

The Conference was held in two phases. First phase focussed on a Panel Discussion on Indian Economy- Sailing through the Covid-19by two renowned personalities of India as the panelists. The keynote speakers were Prof. Santosh Rangnekar, Professor in Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee and Dr. Arup Mitra, Professor in Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi & Director General, National Institute of Labour Economics Research & Development (IAMR), graced the occasion by discussing and sharing their insights on the topic “Indian Economy- Sailing through the Covid-19”.

Speaking on the theme of the discussion, Dr. Arup Mitra focused on the employment issues and effect of Covid-19 in an informal sector. Speaking next, Prof. Santosh Rangnekar talked about the importance of knowledge economy which connects to the human capital. He also highlighted that human capital required skills and knowledge which can boost our Indian economy.

In Second Phase, there are 13 Presentations by the Researchers from various Colleges and Universities including Guru Granth Sahib University, Lovely Professional University, Center for Advanced Research in Education & Delivery (IKGPTU) who presented their work on the National Conference theme of “Rediscover Practices in the Epoch of Covid-19”.

A large number of participants and delegates joined the conference from various parts of the country as well as globe and actively participated in the Panel Discussion and Papers Presentation. Mr. J.S. Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group of institutions, Mohali welcomed all the eminent key note speakers, worthy delegates and other participants.

While concluding the session, Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, GJIMT, Mohali presented with a formal vote of thanks to all the eminent speakers, delegates and participants who contributed in a fruitful and insightful discussion on the theme. She also thanked and congratulated the organizers of the event and their entire team for the success of the event. The entire panel discussion was gracefully moderated by Mr. Gurdeepak Singh, Director, International Relations & Placements, GJIMT, Mohali and Dr.Neeraj Sharma, Dean & Professor-GJIMT chaired the Technical Session of Papers Presentation. Participants also appreciated the efforts put in by the entire organizing team to provide them with an opportunity to gain insights into this immensely important and relevant topic in current scenario.
