The Women Empowerment Committee of Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT) successfully organized a special screening of the acclaimed film Dangal on campus today. The event aimed to inspire and engage students by showcasing a powerful narrative of female empowerment, resilience, and triumph over societal limitations.
Based on the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat, Dangal illustrates the challenges faced by women in traditionally male-dominated sports. The film highlights themes of gender equality, perseverance, and the importance of challenging stereotypes — values that resonate deeply with the mission of the Women Empowerment Committee.
Students and faculty in attendance appreciated the initiative, as the screening opened up meaningful conversations around breaking gender barriers and redefining success. Following the film, a short interactive session was held where participants reflected on the significance of supporting women in all spheres of life, especially in sports and leadership roles.
This initiative marks another step by GJIMT toward fostering a more inclusive and motivating environment for its students, encouraging them to dream big and stand strong in the face of adversity.
