“Protect Your Digital Footprint: Cybersecurity Workshop”

Skill development Cell of Gian Jyoti Institute of Management & Technology (GJIMT) organized a “Protect Your Digital Footprint: Cybersecurity Workshop” on 21st August 2026 in the Cyber Security Lab for MCA students. The workshop aimed to enhance awareness about digital security, cybersecurity practices, encryption, data protection, and emerging career opportunities in the field of cybersecurity.

The session highlighted the importance of protecting one’s digital footprint and adopting safe digital practices. Students were introduced to the concepts of encryption and decryption, including the conversion of plain text into ciphertext for secure communication. The session also covered various encryption algorithms, with SHA-256 discussed as an important cryptographic algorithm.

A hands-on practical activity was conducted using CrypTool-Online, where students performed encryption and decryption of text. The activity provided practical exposure to cryptographic techniques and helped students understand how data can be secured during digital communication.

The workshop successfully combined theoretical learning with practical exposure, enabling students to strengthen their understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, and digital safety. It also encouraged students to explore cybersecurity as an emerging and promising career domain.
