Gian Jyoti Institute of Management & Technology (GJIMT) Career Guidance and Development Cell organized an industrial visit to Decathlon, Zirakpur for final-year students of BBA V and B.Com (Hons.). The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to modern retail operations, inventory management, supply chain practices and marketing strategies.
Students explored visual merchandising, retail store layout, RFID-enabled inventory management, automated stock replenishment, self-checkout systems, click-and-collect services and real-time POS inventory management. They also gained insights into the functioning of various store sections, including Mountaineering, Sports, Running, Kids and Fitness.
The visit successfully bridged classroom learning with real-world retail practices, enhancing students’ understanding of retail management, inventory control, customer engagement and marketing strategies.
