World Kidney Day – Awareness Session on Kidney Health

Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT), Mohali, observed World Kidney Day with an expert information session by senior doctors from PGIMER, Chandigarh. The programme took place in the institute auditorium and saw active participation from students and faculty members.

The session featured Dr.Harbir Singh Kohli, Professor and Head, Department of Nephrology, PGIMER, and Dr. Raja Ramachandran, Additional Professor, Department of Nephrology, PGIMER. Dr.AvichalRajpal and Dr. G. BharaniDharou, Senior Residents from the same department, also joined the programme.

The event included a panel discussion where the doctors addressed important aspects of kidney health, causes of kidney disease, lifestyle factors that affect kidney function, and the importance of early diagnosis and preventive care.

Students from GJIMT took keen interest in the session and raised several questions. They asked about the impact of junk food and energy drinks on kidney health, the role of water intake in maintaining kidney function, and whether stress and irregular sleep patterns can lead to kidney problems. Some students also sought guidance on early warning signs of kidney disease and preventive habits for young people.

The experts addressed the queries with practical advice and stressed the importance of balanced diet, regular physical activity, and periodic health check-ups.
